Read Law with European Legal Studies at King’s College London; joined Cheeswrights as an articled clerk in 2003; spent five months of his articles working in a firm of notaries in Buenos Aires, Argentina; qualified as a general notary in 2007 and as a Scrivener notary in 2008.
Luis specialises in electronic notarial and signing matters and is a member of the Technology Committee for the Society of Scrivener Notaries.
Read French and Italian at St. Hild and St. Bede’s college, Durham, spending a year of her studies in Florence (Italy) and Clermont-Ferrand (France); studied the law conversion course at the College of Law; joined the firm in 2006, qualified as a general notary in 2009 and as a Scrivener notary in 2011.
Studied at the University of Oxford and the College of Law, London. Joined the firm in 2010 and spent a year of her training working in Germany and Spain, qualifying as a Scrivener notary in 2014.
Originally joined the firm in 1992 working as a Spanish speaking assistant and, after some time away whilst raising her family, rejoined in 2011. Linsey spent many years working as a Senior Notarial Assistant and supporting the Spanish department before becoming the practice manager in 2021. Her responsibilities include overseeing the firm’s day to day operations and assisting the partners with data security and general compliance matters.
Studied Modern Languages at the University of Nottingham, specialising in French and Spanish with Beginners Russian. As part of her degree, she spent a year of her studies in Cádiz (Spain) and Paris (France). Currently studying at the Law Training Centre, Niamh joined Cheeswrights as a trainee in 2023.
Read Modern and Medieval Languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Catalan) at Magdalene College, Cambridge, spending a year of his studies working and studying in Salamanca (Spain) and across southern France. Raphael joined the firm as a trainee in 2023 and specialises in Spanish, Portuguese, and French.
Studied Modern Languages at The University of Southampton (French, German and beginner’s Mandarin Chinese), spending a year abroad at the Université Grenoble Alpes, France. Rebecca joined the firm in 2022 and has been a trainee since January 2023.
Read Linguistics at Peterhouse, Cambridge; joined the firm as a trainee in 2017, was admitted as a general notary in 2021, and as a scrivener notary in 2023. Jake spent a period of his training at the offices of a notary in Madrid (Spain), and specialises in Spanish and French. Jake is happy attend on clients in the Cambridge and Saffron Walden area by prior arrangement through our office.

During her training Philippa spent time in Salzburg (Austria) at the office of a notary there as well as at a notarial office near Düsseldorf and specialises in German and French.
Read languages & law at Jesus College, Cambridge; joined Cheeswrights in 1975, admitted as a notary in 1980; partner of Cheeswrights in 1981. Publications: editor, Tenth (1988), Eleventh (1992), Twelfth (2002), Thirteenth (2009), Fourteenth (2013) and Fifteenth (2021) editions of “Brooke’s Notary” (Sweet and Maxwell, London) and Hong Kong supplement (2005); consulting editor, Ship Registration: Law and Practice (2002); with the late Theodoros Karatzas of the Athens Bar and subsequently Governor of the National Bank of Greece, “The Greek Code of Private Maritime Law” (1982). He is a past master (2002-2003) of the Worshipful Company of Scriveners member of the livery of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights and a General Counsellor of the International Union of Notaries (UINL). Nigel was Managing Partner of the firm from 1990 to 2009. He retired as senior partner in April 2012 but continues to be closely involved with the firm as a consultant.
